Beginners Wheel Throwing - 8 weeks

This course is suitable for beginners, students who have completed our 4-wk wheel course and students with no throwing experience. 

craftsmanship—do what you love & do it well

Over eight weeks you will learn & develop all the skills you need to make your own pottery. We will teach you how to:

  • Clay: prepare & wedge your clay

  • Throw: centre & throw Japanese ‘off the hump’ method pottery

  • Make: create bowls & cups

  • Decorate: Trim, decorate & glaze your pots

Hone your craft and embrace your creative side using our rainbow-inspired mid fire clay. You can also practice outside of class during weekly studio sessions.

Term 1 dates: 9 February to 6 April 2019

Price: $450 per person. Students can enrol in one of the following classes:

  • Mondays, 6:30pm-8:30pm (11 Feb to 1 April)

  • Tuesdays, 10am-12pm (12 Feb to 2 April)

  • Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:30pm (13 Feb to 3 April)

Please note:

  • Students must choose one class. There is no swapping between classes through the term.

  • The Tuesday morning class is open to beginners & advanced students.

  • The price includes all clay, slips & glazes, studio equipment and tools used during class. Note- there is a seperate fee for all work we fire in our kilns. The firing fee is $8 per kilo (roughly 5 small pots), payable when you collect your finished work.

Cancellation & refund policy:

Please choose carefully. Once you have booked and paid we will only provide a refund if the course is unable to go ahead. If you change your mind after you have booked and paid for your place, you may transfer your booking to a friend - but only before the course starts (please inform us before your first class). We do not allow transfers between terms. Alternatively, if there is a waiting list and we can successfully offer your space to another student before the first class commences, we will hold your payment for another course or class up to 12 months.
